Pakistan: Vacant Eyes

Pakistani man that lost home in Gojra mob violence.

His eyes speak volumes while the horror of his experiences stifle any words to explain in a rational way why he became a victim. On August 1st, a mob of Muslims, angry over a reportedly fabricated episode of desecration of the Koran, rampaged through his Christian neighborhood looting, burning and killing. He was left with nothing.

In two days of violence two villages, Korian and Gojra, were attacked. Two villagers were shot dead and five others were burned to death in their own home. Over 100 homes were destroyed.

  1. Gary, thanks for the ministry you live out towards God and His bride. Your candid and spirit led photography brings me beyond voyeuristic violence to provoking and compassionate visuals that spur me to prayer and intercession. You are their voice via frozen visuals with no “sound bite”! These images that pluck a 1/16 of a second from the linear tree of time bring me to the God who exists outside of it, and causes me to pray with out ceasing for those who experience the sharp pains of persecution. I rejoice that this image is only part of the story and that while they weeps tears now, one day when time steps into eternity, God shall wipe them all away. Weeping may last for a night but joy will come in the morning and God will hopefully have you there at that time to catch the smile from the joy that only Jesus can give.
